Our business model is "quick-serve" drive-thru locations. We do offer other business models but we have found that the small quick-serve concept offers the greatest sales opportunity. Most locations will be about 900 to 1200 sqft and have a small seating inside along with and outside seating option.
Ramblin' Joe works for Ugly Mug Coffee and is their head discovery person. He travels around the world in search of unique regional flavors that. Joe knows that most people don't have the opportunity to experience flavors from around the world. He is tasked to discover these new and unique products and offers these unique products and flavors to his customers'.

Operations
The Operations team provides the business coaching that helps franchisees understand how to implement a cost-effective program in their stores. They do this by monitoring the cost of goods and labor, equipment maintenance, and hiring solid managers and personable barista team members. Every franchisee and his or her store manager spends four weeks training in our roasting and training facility at our headquarters in Memphis Tennessee.
Training syllabus includes, coffee education, product preparation, personnel development, and store operations. In addition, our training team spends time before, during, and after the opening week in the stores with the manager and barista team. Our goal is to ensure all members of your team feel prepared and ready to serve customers our high-quality drinks to our standards.
Beverages:
We not only offer traditional "coffee shop" products but also offer unique products that people love and come back for day after day. Furthermore, we offer a wide variety of hot drinks, Iced Coffee drinks, Iced Energy(sodas), and Frozen coffee Drinks and smoothies.
Food:
Typical food is a variety of muffins, pastries and breakfast and lunch sandwiches. We will also have some custom offerings based on our signature flavors such as Buttermoon Pound mini cakes, and sweet and ugly rolls.
Marketing
Long before a new Ramblin’ Joe’s Coffee location opens, the marketing team is busy promoting your store with banners, social media, and concentrated publicity. Once it’s open, strategic and focused grand opening campaigns are implemented and designed to create an instant customer base in the surrounding area.
Even though most traffic is through the drive, we will focus on foot traffic, we use a multi-faceted marketing campaign including on-site marketing, targeted direct mail programs, and digital campaigns that are designed to bring customers in and make the loyal guests. Campaigns are carefully tied together, utilizing a consistent message.
To gain loyalty and to speed you operations we offer customers the custom “Ramblin’ Joe’s” app. This app allows customer to pre order all products to beat the lines. Furthermore; this includes the “Joes Rewards” which offers customers loyalty incentives
Control of Franchise Products & Distribution
We knew that becoming a vertically integrated company would only help our franchisees. That’s why we are the proud owners of Ugly Mug Coffee, a company that has been roasting since 1980 and has won numerous award for “Best Coffee Roaster” . Ugly Mug Coffee is a widely known retail brand that sells to Grocery and wholesale in all 50 states. Owning Ugly Mug Coffee allows us to leverage the buying power while maintaining control over product quality, pricing, and timely/consistent delivery to the stores.
Franchise Support Continues Beyond Opening Week
Franchisees always have access to the Franchise Support Team for ongoing training, questions, and advice. Annual franchise conferences give franchisees and their management teams the opportunity to learn about new programs, sample products, receive training and share information. Our corporate team is consistently communicating with our system, sharing tips and training videos with all of our franchisees. We provide the tools our franchisees need to grow their teams – and eventually expand to owning more stores.
History
Lambert’s Coffee was the original parent company. This family company was founded by Bill Lambert in 1971. We originally were a coffee roaster and coffee supplier to area businesses and restaurants. In 2002 Ramblin Joes Coffee (Ugly Mug Coffee as it was called at that time) began its very first operation in Memphis , Tennessee in 2002. The original name of the coffee shop was Ugly Mug Coffee. In 2021, to offer a wider appeal and to fit more with the discovery spirit of the owners, we changed the Name to “Ramblin Joes Coffee”.

Our franchisees must believe in our brand, products, and processes. We’re not looking to sell stores…we’re looking to partner with driven, enthusiastic people who want to build a business together. We require candidates to have a minimum net worth of $500K, with liquid assets of at least $200K. Previous business ownership is not needed, but some leadership background is a must.
Potential franchisees must understand our brand and brand culture. We are looking for people that are passionate about the craft of coffee.
